Terry David Mulligan (born June 30, 1942) is a Canadian actor and television personality based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Mulligan's first career was as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer in Olds, Alberta and Red Deer, Alberta from 1960 through 1964. After leaving the Mounties, Mulligan worked as a radio DJ for 20 years, and then joined CBC Television as host of the music video series Good Rockin' Tonite (simultaneously, he was also a regular on the children's TV series Zig Zag, produced by BCTV). He left the CBC in 1985 to become a VJ and producer for MuchMusic, covering primarily the West Coast music scene as host of the long-running MuchWest series.
He is a program host and producer for the Canadian entertainment channel Star!, and hosts a weekly radio program on Alberta public radio station CKUA. Mulligan is also a prolific character actor who has been featured in supporting and small roles in many movies and television series including, notably, The X-Files, Robson Arms, Hard Core Logo and the Fantastic Four movie. The vast majority of the films and TV shows in which he appears are filmed in the Vancouver area.
He has four children, Mindy, Sean, Fynn and Kate, and has been married since 1977, to his wife, Meg. He has two grandchildren, Kyle and Taleigha.
Kate Mulligan is following in her dad's footsteps as an up and coming writer, involved in the media and music scenes. In August of 2007 they had an interview together on Canada's CBC Radio One, a show called "Sounds like Canada". They discussed an article Kate had published in The Tyee (thetyee.com) called "Growing up Mulligan", a hilarious and detailed account of life with TDM.
He also co-hosts a wine show called Hollywood and Vine with fellow actor Jason Priestly which is filmed on wine vineyards around the world.
In recent times, he is now working on a radio show called The Tasting Room.
He continues to host Mulligan Stew, a long-running two-hour Saturday night show on CKUA which covers a vast range of great music from the past and present. Recorded from home, his children often make guest appearances. Mulligan Stew has received rave reviews and is considered some of the finest hours of music on Canadian radio.
