Terrington is a large village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the Howardian Hills, 4 miles west of Malton.

Its beautiful location makes it a fitting home to one of North Yorkshire's finest Prep Schools, Terrington Hall Preparatory School, a happy and relaxed medium-sized Christian school for boys and girls aged from 3 to 13, with a mixture of boarders and day pupils. Described in the Tatler Schools guide as an 'Incredibly friendly school...a great home-from-home establishment where all sorts of personalities will prosper" [[1]] A wide variety of activities is offered throughout the school day (music, drama, sport, outdoor education, etc.) as well as a first-rate academic education. The high-quality sports facilities (including a huge indoor sports hall) have helped to bring the school considerable success, despite its moderate size, in a range of major and minor sports.
