Terri Farley

American author Terri Farley (born May 10, 1950) is the author of Seven Tears into the Sea, The Phantom Stallion series for young readers and many nonfiction magazine articles.
Farley lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains with her journalist husband, two children and pets, but still longs for the California beaches where she grew up. She's worked as a waitress, journalist and teacher and now writes full-time.

[edit] Education and Career
Terri Farley has taught high school, middle school and college freshman English for much of her life. At San José State University, she earned a B.A. and Secondary teaching credential in English, then completed a Master's degree in Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has taught remedial reading in an inner-city school in Los Angeles, International Baccalaureate English in Reno, Nevada, and almost everything in between, including a semester helping lawyers write. She holds memberships in the National Council of Teachers of English, International Reading Association and the National Education Association. She has been writing since she was a child and wrote her first book, Pagan: The Wild Pinto Stallion, when she was eight years old on an old typewriter given to her by her grandmother.

- Terri Farley has also written under the penname, Tess Farraday.
- Farley lives with her husband. Her two children have reached adult-hood and have pursued their own lives. Her husband is a journalist and Farley has said that her daughter proofreads her stories and drew a map for her new series, Wild Horse Island.
- Terri does not own horses, but a neighbor owns three horses. Two of Farley's dogs died recently, but she still owns a dog named Zito and a gray cat named Sherlock.
