[edit] Campus History and Atmosphere

It was first constructed in 1971 following the outdated locations and long commutes of Terre Haute's previous high schools to suburban subdivisions, along with Terre Haute North Vigo High School. It is located near the northern edge of Honey Creek Township at 7th and Davis streets. Most of the school is one story. It contains Terre Haute's only planetarium, Allen Planetarium.

[edit] Alumni

The most notable of THS alumni is the recently fired Miami Dolphins head coach, Cam Cameron. Prior to coaching the Dolphins, Cameron was the San Diego Chargers' offensive coordinator from 2002-2006.

While attending Terre Haute South, Cam Cameron was part of a boys' basketball team that went to the state finals three years in a row. He was also an All-American quarterback while at THS. Upon graduation, Cameron went to Indiana University and played basketball and football under the well-known Bob Knight and Lee Corso, respectively. Sadly, his playing career was cut short due to a knee injury. He later went on be an assistant football coach at the University of Michigan and later head coach at his alma mater, Indiana University. Cameron is one of 2 Vigo County athletes to receive the McMillian Award (given to outsanding county athlete) twice.

Other notable graduates include actor Jose Pablo Cantillo, former NBA forward Brian Evans (basketball), and former NFL tight end Tony McGee (tight end).

[edit] School Song

The school song is to the music of "Across the field"

Our South team is fighting hard,
we're out to win the game.
And we will back our team with pep
and keep in boosting them to fame.
RAH! RAH! RAH!
We will get right in there and fight!
Always loyal to red, black, and white!
Hail! Hail! The gang's all here,
And we're rooting for our South High!
