Terra Venture

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Terra Venture was a space station in the Power Rangers universe, appearing in the television series Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy (1999). In that series it served as their home for most episodes, and the base of operations for the Galaxy Power Rangers. It is commanded and operated by the GSA organization.

It has the general appearance of a long central cylindrical hull topped with a large "City Dome" and fitted at the other end with its main engines. (Whether-or-not the vessel utilizes faster-than-light engines is not directly stated, though it can be assumed to have them since a journey by any other means would take centuries to complete at sub-light speeds.) On outstretched support arms are six smaller domes in which are different kinds of habitable environments and facilities- forest, ocean, desert, etc. While not able to transform, the Astro Megaship (featured prominently in the previous year's "Power Rangers in Space") serves exclusively as a long-range transport for the Galaxy Rangers and is stored in a large hangar bay within the colony vessel.

[edit] History

Terra Venture was created to carry several hundred people across the galaxy to an unspecified "new world." Its origins were not stated in the show.

Terra Venture's voyage got off to a bad start, becoming embroiled in a conflict between Scorpius and the Galaxy Power Rangers. This conflict draws in the Magna Defender, who nearly destroys Terra Venture while trying to annihilate Scorpius. In addition, one of the high councilors of the station is kidnapped.

Terra Venture is briefly pulled into the "Lost Galaxy" (a galaxy which does not appear in our universe, and can only be reach through certain methods, such as a wormhole), where it is menaced by Captain Mutiny. However, with the help of the Galaxy Power Rangers and the new Magna Defender, Mike Corbett, it escapes. However, Scorpius' daughter Trakeena launches a full assault on the station forcing the colonists to evacuate to nearby Mirinoi. Trakeena later attempts to crash the remnants of Terra Venture into the colony, but it was stopped by the Galaxy Megazord. The people of Terra Venture then apparently settle on Mirinoi, having found a suitable "new world."

Some form of transit may have become available between Mirinoi and Earth during Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue or Power Rangers: Time Force:
