Talk:Terceira Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi User:PedroPVZ, if you really want this section:
"Terceira Island was thought to be a legendary island thought to lie in the Atlantic Ocean, known as Brazil. The middle ages' name Brasil came from red dye-woods, possibly also applied to other vegetable dyes, and so descending from the Insulae Purpurariae of Pliny. It first appears as the "I. de Brazi" in the Venetian map of Andrea Bianco (1436), where it is found attached to one of the larger islands of the Azores. When this group became better known and was colonized, the island in question was renamed Terceira"
then I think we either need to display it as a quote and mention that it came from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica - the proper thing to do when using text from elsewhere, OR rewrite it into more legible English. The text also needs to be integrated with the rest of the article. Which do you think would be the best option? Zuytdorp Survivor 00:01, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I'll extend the article with info about Terceira when I get some time. Rewrite it to proper English, but keep all the info.-Pedro 00:39, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
