[edit] Ligne de Niort-Fontenay le Comte

This line, closed to passenger traffic since 1969, counts 25% of it route in Poitou-Charentes, the rest being situated in the Pays de la Loire.

The reopening is inscribed to the CPER 2006-2007 and the preliminary studies are finished. Alll that rests is for the interregional budget, to be able to start the first works.[citation needed]

[edit] Ligne de Thouars- Parthenay - Niort

This line has been closed to passenger traffic since 1980.

However, it is still working and empty TER trains can be seen on it every Wednesday. Coming from the line Bressuire - Thouars - Saumur and going to Saintes for maintenance. They are allowed to circulate between 70 and 80 km/h, but certain sections of the line could easily support higher speeds.[1]

[edit] Expansion of the ligne de La Rochelle-Rochefort

With 11 trains a day, to be put progressively in place between September 2007 and 2008, the strengthening of this line is meant to help curb the intensifing road traffic between these two cities[2]

Five additional stops are proposed:

  • Saint-Laurent de la Prée (from September 2007)
  • Angoulins (from September 2007)
  • La Rochelle - Porte Dauphine
  • Aytré-Plage
  • Tonnay-Charente
