TERA rifle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The TERA Rifles (挺身落下傘小銃"Teishin Rakkasan syoujyu") were Japanese special rifles developed for paratroopers. They could be broken down into two parts and easily assembled/disassembled. There were three types:
- Type 100 based on the Type 99 Rifle.
- Type 2 based on the Type 99 Rifle.
- Type 1 was based on Type 44 Cavalry Rifle. It was not separated but folded. The Type 1 was not introduced, because its folding mechanism was not reliable enough.
Japanese paratroopers also used Bergmann sub-machine guns and Type 100 sub-machine guns.
