Tequila stuntman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tequila stuntman (also known as a Manly Man, Tequila Suicide (or Suicide Tequila Shot), Iron Man, Tough Guy Shot, Man Shot, Terrorist Tequila or simply a Stuntman) is a variation on the "standard" tequila shot. All that is required is salt, a slice of lemon, and a shot of tequila.

A stuntman is performed by:

  1. Snorting the salt from the back of the hand or by using a straw.
  2. Slamming the shot of tequila.
  3. Squirting the juice from the lime into your eye.

The tequila stuntman is commonly believed to be invented by Jake U. However, it may have been invented by Steve-O of Jackass when he appeared on an episode of Blind Date where he performed the stunt. In Britain, particularly in South Wales, the drink is more commonly known as the "Tequila Suicide".

Another variation of the Stuntman, which was made popular in Tokyo, Japan by students of Temple University, Japan Campus, an American university's satellite campus, is done by snorting the salt from your hand, squeezing dry a lime wedge into your eye, as opposed to lemon, and finally slamming the shot of tequila.

An increasingly popular variation of the Stuntman is the "Tequila Stunt Double", which seems to have spread from a grassroots collection of drinkers in Tucson, Arizona. In this variant, a round of standard tequila shots, complete with salt and lime slices, are ordered for a group of drinkers. After the shots are taken, the distributor of said shot squirts lime into the eye of an unsuspecting compatriot.
