[edit] Appearances

Prior to the release of the Galaxy Angel II game on 22 June 2006, Kahlua (and by extension Tequila) was among the new characters to be announced by Broccoli. Her voice was first heard on 2 cds released shortly before the game's release date. The first contained her image songs and a short message from Kahlua (and Tequila) herself. The second was a duet cd with her predecessor Ranpha Franboise which featured two duets, two question and answer sessions and a mini-drama.

She is one of the first of the new Angel Troupe encountered in the game, and acts as a flirty foil to the (generally) more reserved members of the Rune Angel troupe. She is also quite hot-tempered, compared to the patient Kahlua.

Besides the game, she is also a major character of the ongoing Galaxy Angel II manga and in the currently airing Galaxy Angelrune- Galaxy Angel II, an anime based on GAII.

[edit] Characteristics

Like her spiritual predecessor in the Moon Angel troupe Ranpha Franboise, Tequilla is a hot-cold kind of person. While sexy, flirty and more than a little harsh, she can also be rather caring (in an indirect fashion).

Unlike the ever-polite Kahlua, Tequilla often doesn't bother with honorifics and refers to virtually all other characters by their family names (e.g. she calls Tact 'Mayers' or Kazuya 'Shiranami'). In Japanese culture this is seen as showing that the speaker and listener are not particularly close and adds to Tequilla's 'don't care' image.

Impatient and sometimes violent, Tequilla is nevertheless very protective of her comrades in the Rune Angel Troupe.

[edit] Personality

Contrasting with Kahlua's kind, gentle and carefree nature, Tequila is seductive, hot-tempered and rough. Where Kahlua uses first names and honorifics when speaking to other characters, Tequila often uses none at all and refers to others using their family names (e.g. Kahlua refers to Kazuya as "Kazuya-san" while Tequila calls him "Shiranami").

She can be quite playful with Kazuya, as his embarrassed reactions to her flirting amuse her greatly. In the manga, she also plays around with Kazuya and Rico's relationship, such as planting lipstick on Kazuya's clothes or spiking Rico's drink. Unlike Kahlua, Tequila can get drunk since alcohol (which turns Kahlua into her) has no effect on her.

Despite her seemingly harsh attitude, though, she is very fiercely loyal to the people she cares about. She is also very protective of the more trusting and less cynical Kahlua. Tequila also flirts with anyone she sees. On episode 1 she even flirted with Apricot!

[edit] Trivia

  • Kahlua and Tequila's split personalities and use of an outside substance to trigger the transformation brings to mind the famed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story and also Lunch with her two personalities from Dragon Ball. However, while not as polite and more rambunctious than Kahlua, Tequila is nowhere near as depraved as Hyde was.
  • Tequila refers to Kahlua as 'that kid' (ano ko).
