Teodoro Núñez Ureta

Dr. Teodoro Núñez Ureta (1912–1988) was a Peruvian artist, a self-taught painter and a writer. It chose the titles of Doctor of Philosophy and Letters, with a thesis on "The Juarez Companion" and "What Grotesco and Comedy in the Arts. He was born in Arequipa and died in Lima.

Incorporated into teaching gave the Chairs of Art History and Aesthetics (1936-1950), at the Faculty of Arts of the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin[1]. With Article costumbrista "Granny" (Abuela) was worthy of the National Journalism Award (1943). Under the auspices of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation traveled to the United States (1943-1944)[2]. He wrote the book "Academy and Modern Art" (1945). Established in Lima, from 1950 in 1959 won the National Prize of Culture Ignacio Merino[3].

He was Director of the National School of Fine Arts (1973-1976)[4]; Asociaicón and President of the National Writers and Artists (1978-1980). He has exhibited his work in Lima, Arequipa, Chile, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Canada, United States, Soviet Union, Sweden and Bulgaria. He published "Siqueiros" (1976); "Contemporary Peruvian painting," two volumes (1975-1976). He wrote "The Waytacha" (1980), story translated into Russian, English and Bulgarian, through a poetic symbolism, presents the frustrations of the farmer in the city and leads to love for the land, and "The Life of the People" (1982), which reproduces 68 watercolors and 35 drawings, designed to criticize or narrate types and social customs. Attended Bulgria in 1980 invited by the UNESCO and the government of Sofia, being decorated by the circle of Writers and Artists of the Plastics in that country.

His homeland was declared "Good Son" (Hijo Predilecto) giving "texao Gold" and the Gold Medal of the City of Arequipa. Likewise, in the capital was given the Civic Medal of the City of Lima (1985). Her brilliant career has earned recognition of the Peruvian State, in the first government of Dr. Alan Garcia Perez, who was honoured with the highest awards: Order "The Sun of Peru" in the category of Grand Cross ( 1982); Medal of Congress in Grade Commander (1982) and Las Palmas Magisteriales in the degree of Amauta (1988). Recently, the Fondo Editorial Congress of the Republic of Peru has published a compilation of Lucy Nunez Rebaza work as a writer Dr. Teodoro[5].
