[edit] Who's On First
Hi Teneriff. Thank you for contacting me regarding your removal of my referenced edit to Who's On First. (1) I revised your talk page to archive the prior discussions (rather than delete them) since that is typical of how Wikipedia talk pages are handled. See above for the archive link. (2) I think you would agree that the reference information I posted in the article would support a statement that "Numerous people over the years have claimed credit for writing the sketch, but such claims typically lack reasonable corroboration." Yet, you outright deleted the information (the only actual footnoted information in the article). I think if you did not have a conflict of interest with the topic, you would have recognized this (since it essentially was what you told me when you contacted me). This is one reason why Wikipedia has a conflict of interest policy. I revised the Who's On First article accordingly. (3) Normally, there is a discussion on the article talk page before and/or after deleting referenced information. A way you could have handled this was to delete the information, set up a discussion on the article talk page and post a note on my talk page suggesting that I may want to see the Who's on First? article talk page. (4) I know that you have little experience with Wikipedia, so I do not see any bad faith in your actions. (5) I added your talk page discussions to the Who's on First? article talk page since it contains valuable information that may assist others in editing the article. (6) Is there anyway that you can start providing footnotes to the Who's On First article? It is a shame that such an important topic lacks referenced material. If you have any questions, please post them on my talk page. -- Jreferee (Talk) 20:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. The above message was more terse than I would have liked, but seemed an efficient way to convey a lot of information. If you need any help with anything regarding Wikipedia, please feel free to ask me. -- Jreferee (Talk) 20:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Footprints Recruiting
A tag has been placed on Footprints Recruiting requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:29, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, I didn't actually delete the article, but merely marked it for speedy-deletion. An admin has to agree with my assessment, and then they actually delete the article, or else they disagree and remove the marker. I don't have access to the previous article so I have nothing to compare to this version. This version still comes across as a little promotional, but not too bad. I need to know if you have any connection to the company; if so, you would run afoul of conflict of interest policies. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:07, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
