Tense (linguistics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In linguistics, the term tense has two distinct meanings:
- As a noun, grammatical tense refers to the way verbs can be marked to indicate whether the action they imply is in the past, the present, or the future.
- As an adjective, tense vowels and consonants are (somewhat vaguely) defined as being produced with more "muscular tension" than their lax counterparts.
