Tenman-gū

Tenman-gū (天満宮?) is a shinto shrine to worship Sugawara no Michizane as Tenjin. There are about 14 thousand Tenman-gū in Japan. Famous Tenman-gū are as follows.

  • Dazaifu Tenman-gū (Dazaifu, Fukuoka) -- One of the Sōhonsha (the head shrine) of Tenman-gū.
  • Kitano Tenman-gū (Kamigyo, Kyoto) -- Another Sōhonsha of Tenman-gū.
  • Nagaoka Tenman-gū (Nagaokakyo, Kyoto)
  • Ōsaka Tenman-gū (Kita, Osaka)
  • Hōfu Tenman-gū (Hofu, Yamaguchi)
  • Yaho Tenman-gū (Kunitachi, Tokyo)
  • Yushima Tenman-gū (Bunkyo, Tokyo)
  • Kameido Tenjin Shrine (Koto, Tokyo)
