Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Biography infoboxes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The argument runs that these templates should be deleted for two reasons 1) they are unsightly and 2) the information contained in them can be incorporated into the text of the article. There is some merit in both these contentions; however, the infobox provides a concise medium that permits the researcher to have ready-to-hand biographical information along with the picture of the biographee. Information on the image displayed can be given as well, which would be too extraneous to put into the body of the article.

In some cases they are unsightly. In those cases they might be deleted by the careful editor; however, in the cases in which they are not unsightly, they should be retained. I vote to keep the infoboxes, but I am in favor of deleting them in a case by case basis. Deleting all of them at once could jeapordize the wealth of information that is in this treasury that we know as Wikipedia. drboisclair 20:58, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
