Templars of Honor and Temperance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Templars of Honor and Temperance was established in the United States in 1845 as the Marshall Temperance Fraternity as part of the temperance movement. It then became the "Marshall Temple, Sons of Honor," and finally became the Templars of Honor and Temperance. It promotes complete abstinence from all alcoholic beverages.

It is a secret fraternal order whose signs, hand grips, passwords and emblems closely resemble those of the Masons and the Odd Fellows.

The organization still exists in Scandinavia, where it is known as Tempel Riddare Orden.
