Temecula Valley High School is a public high school for grades 9-12 in Temecula, California. The school opened in 1983 as the community's first high school, along with Margarita Middle School and Temecula Elementary School. When it was built, it was a part of the Elsinore Union High School District (now the Lake Elsinore Unified School District) until the Temecula Valley Unified School District was founded. It is a California Distinguished School.
In 2007 Temecula Valley had some 3200 students and 150 teachers and staff members. Bryan Kalicki is the current principal. The school's mascot is the Golden Bears, a take on the tradition handed down by the University of California, Berkeley. In August 2007, Temecula Valley High opened a new multi-million dollar gym. The school is currently building a new theater. Newsweek ranks Temecula as number 984 in its top 1000 schools in America.[citation needed] The school is one of the three high schools in the Temecula Valley Unified School District along with Chaparral and Great Oak High School.
