Tembisa is a large township situated to the north of Kempton Park on the East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa. It was established in 1957 when Africans were resettled from Alexandra and other areas in Edenvale, Kempton Park, Midrand and Germiston.Also known as Mambisa (township slang) by the locals.

Tembisa is a fun, developing township in the Eastrand where you will find a lot of cultural diversity, sociable people like Mandla (Smash) Ndaba of Sthamaville a.k.a Isithame Section. Tembisa consists of a lot of sections such as: Mqantsa,Kopanong,Ecaleni,Ethafeni sections, just to mention a few. It is also known as ikasi le zamazama as everyone is involved in different activities just to make life a bit easier. Tembisa also has a community radio station known as THE VOICE OF TEMBISA, featuring our very best Dj Fingers, Skhumba, Fistos, Mdu's Mega and many more. This township also has a local news paper known as THE TEMBISAN.
