Template talk:Television colour

I don't get it... why do certain television shows get special colors for their infoboxes? TheNunOwnedGoat 15:15, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Well it's more difficult then that.
  1. Some shows already had colours before the "general" infoboxes were created, and removing them is difficult
  2. Some shows like Star Trek, Simpsons etc are such wide subjects that they as a subject carry their own colour.

As a quick guide.

  1. Shows that only have a single page NEVER should be coloured on wikipedia
  2. Shows that don't have a colour that is clearly associated with the topic (like yellow is with the simpsons) should not be coloured
  3. Shows with a colour that would make the text in the headers illegable should not have a colour.
  4. Shows that DO have colour should have a wide community concensus on having that colour. That's why we are gonna centralize this here, because then it's easier to discuss it with a lot of people. --TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 18:11, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How?

How do i change an infoboxes color successfully?. Mythdon (talk) 01:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge dup parameters

{{Editprotected}} The two checks for two different but same-colored Stargate shows should be replaced with a single one:

| Stargate = #7F8EB7

but have if-code in there to also match

| Stargate Atlantis = #7F8EB7

and

| Stargate SG-1 = #7F8EB7

instances (i.e., make the template code smart enough to not require a big AWB session to change all instances of the old separate codes to the new merged one.)

The structure for this is just nested if statements. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 04:45, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

N Not done but I chased down the cascading protection (which was applied to a redirect, of all things!), so you can change it yourself. Happymelon 11:19, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
