I think the claim series 5000 Meade eyepieces are direct copies of Televue products is dubious at best.

The Meade eyepieces tend to be huge compared to Televue eyepieces intended for a similar purpose.



I should research this and come up with a citation -- I remember an S+T article a couple years ago that outlined similarities between Meade's new eyepiece line and the corresponding TV's; if I remember right they are similar enough Meade's can be considered "knock-offs".

Some of the earlier Meade Series 4000 eyepieces, now discontinued, were knock-offs (or close to being so) of the original generation of Naglers and Superwides. I know of no real connection between Meade's current eyepieces and Televue's current eyepieces, other than being competitors.
