Talk:Telecommunications Act of 2005

[edit] Question

Is the Telecommunications Act of 2005 still a future event? How much of it was actually passed?

I can't remember offhand. Seems to me it is presently known as COPE Act of 2006 (H.R.5252).
According to Thomas:
9/29/2006:
Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Reported by Senator Stevens with an amendment in the nature of a substitute. With written report No. 109-355. Additional views filed.
9/29/2006:
Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 652.
So, to my knowledge, Telecom Act 2005 morphed into COPE Act of 2006, HR5252, which the Senate wrote a report for (No. 109-355) on 29 September 2006. And there it sits, as of November 2007. That is, Thomas does not report any new activity.
I haven't looked at this in a while.

[edit] Minor edits

Reverting a vandalism was annoying since it wasn't spotted and several intervening edits made undo less than useful. So, I took the trouble to split the article out into lines about 67 columns. What does this accomplish? I hope it makes it easier to find insertion points for future reversions of this type.

That was its only purpose here.
