Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Tekana/Archive01! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 12:35, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Spinone

Very impressive! You're a fast learner. A few suggestions would be to include pictures of Spinone dogs, and to cite your sources. In addition to external links at the bottom of an article, it is a good idea to place a link to your source right after a block of information, so others know what info came from where. Keep up the outstanding work! Ryan 05:08, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] British vs American spelling

FYI, it's wikipedia policy to leave an article's american or british spelling in place & try to simply match the brit or amer spelling in any additions. I'm just mentioning this because in Akita Inu it looked like you changed amer to brit although the whole article was in amer spelling near as I could tell. Elf | Talk 18:18, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

My apologies; I was doing a history comparison and somehow got an anon's changes in with yours. Now I get 50 lashes with a wet noodle for not double-checking. Elf | Talk 00:09, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Award

I hereby award you the Exceptional Newcomer award for your hundreds of contributions to WikiProject Dog breeds and related articles.

[edit] Thanks

Hi Kim, thanks very much for reverting the vandalism on my user page. Rje 16:46, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

You're more than welcome. :) Tekana | Talk 17:37, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Animal liberation category

Hey Kim, thanks for your comment. I appreciate the feedback. My aim with the category is to put together a list of all our articles about the movement, members, aims, and concerns. It's good to have a central collecting place so we can see what's missing and needs to be improved. I'm glad it's of interest to you. ;-) Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 17:14, September 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dog stuff

You're making great progress. I'm thrilled! Elf | Talk 19:32, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RE: ACD's

I got a chuckle out of your input on the ACD page. I don't like seeing dogs that are way overweight. Check my pages for photos of my buddies. WikiDon 10:08, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

  • YEAH .... !!!!! Buddies! Happy wags. I hope the Deacon and Zach don't know that your favortie breed are Spitz? Tell them that its Black Lab and Spaniel. They might read your user page if your not careful. Hugs to them from New Mexico. (P.S. Go look at that photo of that overweight dog again and tell what's in the background...?)
    • That is it, a topri! - (toilet paper roll insert). Just struck me funny when I saw it.

[edit] Dog to-do list

Man, you're rippin' through that list like there's no tomorrow! I'm going to have to find some more things to put on it to keep you busy. ;-)

Oh, BTW, I added your lab photo to the Labrador Retriever page. I know there are a lot of photos there already, but I think it's a good one of a black lab. Elf | Talk 21:18, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] College

Congratulations! May you do as well there as you do on WP.  :-) Elf | Talk 21:16, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pomeranian

As you know, we've got quite a precedence for breed pages to be labeled "Breed (dog)", primarily in cases where the breed name is the same adjective used to describe other things. So it's not really a bad thing for the main Pomeranian article to be a dab. We just need to move Pomeranian (breed) to Pomeranian (dog) to be consistent. Elf | Talk 16:07, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

PS, article moved and I left a note on user's page whether s/he can refix all the links that were fixed to the wrong location. Elf | Talk 16:48, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Writers Cramp/LaLa blocked

FYI: User_talk:LaLa#Block_2. Thought you might like to know for future reference. Elf | Talk 15:52, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dog fighting

Hi, just a heads up that User:Elf-Masher (a probable User:LaLa sock) insists on removing merge and cleanup notices from his History of dog fighting article - you might like to monitor the situation. Fawcett5 11:47, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sharpdale

Yes, I'd really like to have that folded into the crossbreeds article too. There's no info there except that it's a crossbreed and I can't imagine what one could say about it. Elf | Talk 21:20, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] gabby again

Heya, I posted about the whole gabby mess at The admin notice board. Reverting every few days is just plain ridiculous. I thought that you might want to comment there or keep an eye on it. - Trysha (talk) 19:51, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dog Breeds

Hey Kim,

I recently published a dog book online. http://dogs.web-zones.com/

I created external links on a number of pages to the relevant chapters in the book. The book actually has specific data on 70 breeds, but I see you removed the entries. Did I do something wrong in the coding?

Kind Regards,

Jane
