Teji Bachchan (12th August 1917 - 21st December 2007) was wife of Hindi literary great Harivansh Rai Bachchan. She was mother of yesteryears Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Born as Teji Suri to Punjabi parents, she married Harivansh Rai Bachchan in 1941 after the death of his first wife. Teji was an amateur actor as well as a singer.

Teji Bachchan was close to the Nehru-Gandhi family while her family was living in Delhi in the 1950s. However, recently the relationship between Nehru-Gandhi family and Bachchan family are not cordial.

Teji had two sons Amitabh and Ajitabh. Amitabh Bachchan is Bollywood superstar and Teji's grandson Abhishek Bachchan is also a successful actor. Aishwarya Rai is her granddaughter-in-law.

Teji was in the Lilavati Hospital for almost the whole of 2007 and she was shifted to the ICU in November 2007 after her condition became worse. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai had visited her in the hospital prior to their wedding earlier this year to seek her blessings. All major family events were usually conducted after seeking her blessings. Teji's illness had resulted in the Bachchan family curtailing celebrations at their Juhu residence (Prateeksha) for the past few years on occasions like Holi and Diwali.
