Tejas (pronounced teh-has) are a popular dumpling-shaped confection from the Ica Region of Peru. It contains manjar blanco filling (similar to dulce de leche) and either dry fruits or nuts. The exterior is usually a sugar-based fondant-like shell [1], but there also exists chocolate versions too (known by the contraction chocotejas [2]).

Tejas are also a Spanish confection of a paste of flour, sugar, and other ingredients, baked. [3]. The Spanish recipes [4] direct that the pastry should be shaped as a typical teja (Spanish for roof tile).
