Hello there Ted welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need editing help visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page or how to format them visit our manual of style. Experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump or my talk page. Cheers, Muriel Gottrop (PS: I'm very happy to find persons interested in geology here. There are plenty of stuff to do!)
Hello Ted! About the Edit Wars and stuff, don't worry. I, for myself, just write my things, mostly on geology and romans, and dont go around picking trouble. I have been just fine! I hope you do too. Keep in touch. Muriel Gottrop
To link to here from to Meta, just put a w: or en: before the link. For example, [[en:Page name]] or [[w:Page name]].To link from here to Meta, use an m:. --Angela 03:57, Sep 13, 2003 (UTC)
Thanks! Found Interlinking on Meta Help: this will be the Interlanguage method too. I'm still fuzzy re "see if you can add any interlanguage links": the principles are clear enough, but not the hows, wheres & whats. Plus, I am mystified how to work in language environments I don't know. But I'll find the key info and it'll come together. Doing long money days till midweek. --Ted Clayton 05:15, 13 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Ted, on 04:26, 13 Sep 2003 on Database download you asked: "Once the full Wikipedia is downloaded, can smaller periodic updates covering new stuff and changes be obtained and used to synch the local? "
Has there been any movement on that (except for Tim's comments up to 12:48, Sep 14, 2003)?
I am trying to: Create a wiki that mirrors wikipedia, but to which I add articles that are not in wikipedia. If you know a way to do this I would appreciate a discussion. (Why separate? I am doing academic research, so may fail the copyright and NPOV tests that are important to wikipedia.) Magicmike 2 April '04.
