From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The day after... is a Las Vegas-based band which was signed in 2006 to the prominent independent record label Gotham Records.
The band's debut CD release with Gotham, "A different way to get by," burst on to the Music Monitor Network, debuting at No. 22, placing ahead of Ruben Studdard and Sarah McLachlan, only just trailing Aerosmith and Danzig's new releases, respectively. "A different way to get by" also captured the No. 2 spot in weekly sales at Zia Records and sold out in the first week at every Las Vegas store carrying the disc.
In October 2006, The day after... was named a "Band to Watch" in a feature article by Rolling Stone.
On December 29, 2006, The day after... performed at the renowned House of Blues in Las Vegas, where they were paired for the first time with Soul Asylum, as the evening's opening act.
[edit] History
Band members Jenine Cali (vocals, guitar) and KC Wells (bass) became friends at the age of 12. Raised primarily on the dramatic New Wave, Punk and Alternative of the 80's and 90's (Face to Face, NOFX, Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, INXS, Seal, U2, AFI, and Placebo), the two formed their own lush and dramatic band in 1999, creating a sound that was yet uncharted in their native Las Vegas, NV.
The band got its big break in 2005 when they were invited to perform at the South By Southwest Festival, one of the few unsigned bands to do so.
