Ted V. Mikels
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ted V. Mikels (born 29 April 1929) is an American filmmaker of independent cult films. His work is very campy and sometimes outrageous. Famous for his eccentric home life (he once lived with a harem in a castle with secret passageways) and promotional gimmicks (he was known for having nurses and ambulances on hand to assist "scared-to-death" moviegoers), Mikels is now considered a pioneering master of low-budget movie making.
In 2008, a documentary on Mikels called The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels was produced by Kevin Sean Michaels. Also in 2008, a book profiled Mikels called Film Alchemy: The Independent Cinema of Ted V. Mikels by Christopher Wayne Curry McFarland & Company
