Zoe has not been clear what the problem is here - just deleted the article. The stuff I have posted is verifiable from online sources. I'll go through again and see if I can pull out anything which appears biased. I would think Fr. Ted Kennedy has some critics out there somewhere who will want to edit and change the article, and so they will. I don't think it is disputable that Ted was a national figure in Australia. He had direct access to previous Prime Ministers, and had a national network of contacts with regard to Indigenous Reconciliation in Australia. I was surpised that admin Zoe was actually deleting the article at the same time (I mean in the same 5 minute span) I was writing it, even before I had time to put links from our National public Broadcaster and Broadsheets to give evidence for what is said in the article. Zoe requested "something to hang this stuff on" and so I have put up the external links at this point. I will also need to collect other references yet so I have more to add. I haven't yet worked out the Sandbox properly. Is the problem here that I am writing copy and posting it before it is developed far enough? My understanding at this point is that posting it on wiki means it gets analysed, examined and edited by others - and so builds up a more thorough and comprehensive report. I also put up Mum (Shirl) Smith, and maybe it has the same wiki problems as the Ted kennedy article? I'm interested to hear comments on this. Njamesdebien 04:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I think Zoe was acting reasonably and in good faith, as the initial article (which I saw just before the first deletion) did not clearly describe why Kennedy was notable. We see a great many articles created describing people that do not meet WP:BIO, and those that do not clearly assert notability may be deleted very quickly, and this is virtually always the right choice. However, with the addition of references, and after a little google searching of my own, I think Kennedy probably meets the standards of notability. I removed the deletion tag. I would check WP:BIO and add further references if possible to shore up the claim of notability. bikeable (talk) 04:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
