Tecumseh Elementary is a public elementary school in Vancouver, British Columbia part of School District 39 Vancouver.

The school was named after Tecumseh, a leader of the Shawnee tribe. Tecumseh was built in 1910. There are two portables, one being the old Art Classroom.

The school has a MACC (Multi Age Cluster Class) program. Currently, Ms. Cotton is teaching the Grade 4/5 program and Ms. Chomyn is teaching the grade 6/7 program.

The school's mascot is the Hawk.

[edit] Extra Curricular Activities

  • Tecumseh has many extra curricular activities such as Student Leadership, choir, running club, dance club, basketball, chess, volleyball, indoor hockey, Canadian football, badminton, music listening/announcements, and more. The staff use their own time for these.
  • Grade 5's go to Victoria for a day every year.
  • Annually, Grade 6's go to Three Day Camp.
  • Every year, several students are selected to go to the Student Leadership Conference.

Tecumseh Elementary has a group called Student Leaders. This consists of around 80 or more Grade 6's and 7's. The grade 6's and 7's get to choose which activities they would like to be enrolled in. There are probably more, but these are the main ones.

  • Rainy Day Boardgames

When its rainy, the Student Leaders put games out in the hallways for the little kids to play with. The Intermediates go to Ms. Chomyn's room, which is also monitored by Student Leaders.

  • Environmental

The Environmental committee discusses important topics in todays Earth. They have been discussing light bulbs and how to save engery.

  • Primary Support

Students are asked to go to certain primary classrooms and help out the little ones.

  • Adhawk

Although the name has changed, it remains the same thing. These students put on theme days around the school, whether its Pajama Day, or Movie Week.
