Tecmessa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tecmessa in Greek mythology was the daughter of Teuthras, king of Teuthrania in Mysia, or Teleutas, king of Phrygia. During the Trojan War, the Telemonian Ajax killed Tecmessa's father and took her captive. The Roman poet Horace writes that Ajax was himself captivated by Tecmessa's beauty (Carmina 2.4.5-6). Tecmessa bore a son to Ajax named Eurysaces.
Tecmessa is also the name of one of the Amazons killed by Heracles in his quest for the girdle of Hippolyte.
