DESCRIPTION OF EVENTS

ROBOTICS

This competition has been the most popular event of Techniche for years. It has various events related to Robotics. Ghosts of Chernobyl is the manual robotics event with the maximum participation and excitement in the air. With innovative ideas and designs, this time we have broughtan interesting problem for students to design robots which can play PACMAN ,a very common computer game which every kid play in his ROBOTICS

The Ghost of Chernobyl The manual robotics event is an event for the students who like to start off on their exciting journey of robotics. They have to design a robot which can play the PACMAN(a common computer game) on ground. It is also the recipient of the maximum competition levels, from school and college students thronging the arena and spectators trying their best to get a glimpse of the supernatural competition levels.

Aqua Hustle The underwater robotics contest is for those who always loved the deep waters and wish to run a robot inside water - a good working prototype of a submarine! The robot is to do all the 3 dimensional movement under water, which makes it all the more interesting, fun and practical.

The semi-autonomous robotics, Technotennis and, Fully autonomous robotics contest, The Houdini Act are for those who have the mettle to prove themselves to be a cut above the rest and challenge their intellect to design and make robots which are not manually controlled but computer program controlled. Thus, once the robot enters the arena, it's all dependent on what the program does. They may be harder to build but they also provide unparallel satisfaction to the participants of having built a robot which requires you to do nothing but to turn it on!

Robotics at Techniche has been a massive crowd puller for years, and this year is looking no different. With 500+ teams and over 2000 participants, robotics looks like a huge success already. (Please visit Techniche'07 website for details)

GLIDER - Silent Wings This is new event introduced for the very first time in Techniche. Its all about designing prototypes of glider using basics of science. This first step can be a huge leap for the future rocket scientists and astrophysicists of the country.

TECHNOTHLON

TECHNOTHLON is a one of its kind event which is the institute's noble endeavor to encourage and identify the most creative and gifted young minds from across the nation. Participants are tested in fields as diverse as robotics, quizzing and public speaking. Besides the numerous fun activities, the 3 day event of Techniche features educational workshops by eminent professors and scientists. It also gives the participants a glimpse of the labs and the working of IIT. The brainstorming challenges that the students would be facing will leave them with memories to cherish for a lifetime. Be it the PUZZOLOGIKA or the event ELEVATE, any event in this spectacle. Technothlon calls for a great deal of creativity. Participants with remarkable oratory skills will be battling for the top spot in the event "Big Mouth", which is a group discussion. Requiring a great deal of timing and presence of mind, this event will be both fun and intellectually satisfying. The Science Fair is an event which does call for creativity, or rather authentic creativity. Learning is a continuous process. The youngsters would greatly benefit from the experiences that eminent personalities would be sharing in their lectures. The lectures are not on random topics but on those which are of great use in the future to any science student like

  1. Robotics
  2. Sports and technology
  3. Astronomy

The event Technothlon would be concluded with Vista, in which the students will be given a tour of the beautiful campus and some important and interesting events of Techniche. Ambitious IIT aspirants will reap great benefits from an interactive session about the Joint Entrance Exam [IITJEE]. Calls for participation in TECHNOTHLON have been met with an enthusiastic response. Nearly 30000 students were screened for the same through our preliminary tests, and the final list of participating teams has been streamlined to an elite few, based exclusively on merit. All in all, 450 prodigiously talented students divided into 75 teams are going to battle it out this weekend for the TECHNOTHLON championship.

ONLINE EVENTS

Riding on the raging successes of ARBIT and BYTECODE, the online module presents its new events:

  1. IKKARU: the online puzzle contest: 29th August - 8th September
  2. Break the code: 8th September
  3. Arbit

There's a plethora of online events to choose from:

Break the code is all about online quizzing. Whiz through 16 checkpoints that test your analytical skills and speed of thought.

Arbit challenges your knack of finding clues on hidden pages, source codes, pictures, and words. As the name suggests, you never really know what's coming your way next. Finding a needle in a haystack seems like child's play compared to ARBIT.

IKKARU is composed of two rounds of ten puzzles each. While the IKAARU FINAFU is a 4 hour marathon to solve 10 pictorial puzzles in the most efficient manner possible, IKAARU FUKUGI is basically a preparation-cum-bumper prize round that consists of a puzzle daily.

Virtual stock market is for people who believe they can negotiate all the buying, selling, rumour-mongering and crashes that dalal street entails.

Huge response for online events of Techniche 2007 across the world, which started a week before Techniche. The first prize in the event Bytecode(online event) has been won by students from Tsinghua University, Beijing.
