Techkriti is the annual science and technology festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Techkriti is held every February for a period of four days. Over the years, Techkriti has grown into one of the largest festivals of its kind in Asia. Techkriti provides a plateform to show the enthusiasm and zeal for the technology. Events like International Online Programming Contest and International Online Hacking Contest draw a good amount of international participation.

Robogames, is a competitions of machines. It contains a large variety of events like autonomous, semi autonomous, fully manual robotic events, where robots will fight for the best among them. The competitions in this event are:

An event to let the business strategist in you come out and play ball. The events are designed to let you have a crack at problems which have baffled top corporates as well as have fun at the same time, Olymbiz is an event you’ll not want to miss.

ECDC provides you with the perfect opportunity to let your knowledge of electronics put to action. This is the place where you make circuits do things you've always wanted them to do. Turbulence is an event that lets you do what Lilienthal and the Wright Brothers and so many others did a long time ago. That is, make things fly. With various sub events - both for the experienced and for beginners, ranging from simple glider making to RC flying, the events will attract students of all levels

Offering various workshops, documentary shows, lectures and quizzes Cosmos aims to popularize Astronomy amongst the participants of Techkriti. The level of excitement and popularity is revealed by the participation alone for instance, last year, approximately 100 teams registered for the telescope making workshop and approximately twice for the astrophotography workshop.

This competition organized by Biological Sciences & Bioengineering department of IIT Kanpur under the auspices of the Joy and Manmohan Gill Endowment Fund is designed to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among graduate & undergraduate students throughout the country .The event aims to provide the right platform for budding bio-entrepreneurs to act on their ideas and talents to come up with a model that combines business and biology which is both innovative and viable. So it’s the time to nurture your dreams & let them blossom!!

Nirmaan is for you, and while you are at it you get to have fun. It is all about the creative spark in you, to build a structure of your own, and test its strength against competition. What can be a better feeling than to see your competition bow to you, and your design.

Well this is an event for all those school students who wish more than just bookish knowledge. Who crave to learn through experience and think out of the box. A mini Techkriti in itself, School Bag has loads of events lined up from the fields of Science and Technology.

Endeavour 2008, the jewel of Techkriti, encompasses almost every field of engineering. Endeavour symbolizes the creative genius and passion to give a tangible form to a newborn idea. This event provides a platform to the budding minds of tomorrow to showcase their technical ingenuity.

Today, in this world where terms like "optimization", "multiutility" and "environment protection" are indispensable, there is a growing need for creating non-conventional energy based models to serve the various requirements, both for macro and micro purposes. Gearloose is one such effort in this direction. We, in here, pose challenging problems, related, both to industry and daily life and expect, from our participants to come up with interesting models, out of stuff generally discarded as scrap.The event is eponymous in the sense that it invites only mechanical models.

GCOSE(Grand Challenges of Science and Engineering) is an initiative taken this Techkriti. GCOSE is organized to foster scientific thinking, to make students aware of all the latest going on in the world of science and technology. It is a stage where esteemed scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs talk to the student participants and motivate them.

IOPC(International Online Programming Contest, IOHC(International Online Hacking Contest) and IORC(Indian Open Rubik's Cube) are the International Events organized under the banner of Techkriti by IIT Kanpur.

IOPC is the 24-hour online programming contest which IIT Kanpur organizes under the flagship of Techkriti. IOPC was born with the Techkriti 2004. With the IOPC 2005, it came to be recognized as a truly global event with participation from the best programming enthusiasts in the global students’ community. Today, IOPC is known for its original and challenging problems. Here are some facts about the IOPC 2007:

  • Total number of registered teams = 634
  • Total number of submissions = 2215
  • Total teams in the rank list = 120
  • Total teams which solved at least two problems = 53
  • Teams which submitted at least one problem = 198
  • Total teams from outside India in top 10 = 8
  • Duration of contest (in hrs)= 24

IOPC '08 shall start on 9th February 2008 1400 hrs IST (GMT +0530) and shall end at 10th February 2008 1400 hrs IST (GMT +0530)

IOHC is the 12-hour online hacking contest which IIT Kanpur organizes under the flagship of Techkriti. The IOHC problems generally reflect the basic security principles and their understanding. The aim of the contest is to promote the learning of computer networking, cryptography, etc through their applications in hacking. The problems that are used in IOHC are original and designed to get people to think beyond the mundane problems of computing. These are some facts about the IOHC 2007:

  • Total number of registered teams = 293
  • Total number of problems = 6
  • Total teams which solved at least four problems = 36
  • Teams which submitted at least one problem = 198
  • Duration of contest (in hrs)= 12

IOHC '08 shall start on 15th February 2008 1800 hrs IST (GMT +0530) and shall end at 16th February 2008 0600 hrs IST (GMT +0530)

IORC is a an international Rubik's Cube competition which held in Techkrit'08. The event was affiliated by WCA(World Cube Association).The event is the first of its kind in the country. Participants of all age and nationality were allowed. The event also allows non college participation. Their are mainly 6 sub-events in the competition namely:

  • 2*2*2 speedcubing
  • 3*3*3 speedcubing
  • 4*4*4 speedcubing
  • 3*3*3 blindfolded
  • 3*3*3 one handed
  • Square one speedcubing

The winner of the first competition in the five subevents(all but blindfolded) was Orlando Bernett. The blindfolded event was won by Karthik Puthraya. Three National records and one Asian record got broken in the competition.

All competitions testing the software skills of the participants are clubbed under the heading Software Corner. These include A.I. contest (Gimmick), on the spot algorithm contest (Instant), new API learning contest (Chaos), open software showcase event (Open Software Contest) among others.

Techkriti 08, to be held from 14th to 17th February 2008, is expecting a participation of over 10,000 students from above 600 colleges and more than a 1000 international participants. Festival will be conducted during the tenure of K. Ashwin as the General Secretary, Science and Technology Council of the Students' Gymkhana, IIT Kanpur. Scheduled keynote presentations will be given by Peter Grünberg, Kevin Warwick and Harsh Manglik.

Techkriti 2007 was held at IIT Kanpur campus from February 22 to 25, 2007. The event was branded as Techkriti Oh-Seven! This festival was conducted during the tenure of Saumya Jain as the General Secretary, Science and Technology Council of the Students' Gymkhana, IIT Kanpur. The festival Chairman was Dr. Rajat Moona and the Event Manager was Rakshit Kachhal.
