Mentalist Thomas Baxter
A Canadian, Thomas has performed in 31 Countries world-wide, first as a Magician, before transitioning into Mentalism several years ago. His critically acclaimed show, ThoughtControl[[1]], appears in theaters across Canada.
In 1994 Thomas performed, wrote and Co-Produced THE MAGIC OF CANADA, a prime time Magic Special for The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Other Performers on the Special were Gary Kurtz, Jay Sankey, Carl Cloutier, Richard Sanders, Dean Gunnaron and James Ceilen.
Thomas has acted as Consultant and writer for a number of stage, television and big screen projects, including acting as sole Consultant for the 50 part Discovery Channel series, GRAND ILLUSIONS - THE STORY OF MAGIC; the feature film, DAREDEVIL; several seasons at Canada's Stratford Festival (including his work there with the late Robertson Davies in creating all of the illusions and training the actors in the premiere stage adaptation of Davies' work, WORLD OF WONDERS). Thomas also was Consultant for The National Ballet of Canada and created never-before-seen illusions and trained dancers for their current production of Nutcracker.
Thomas began his study of Magic and Mentalism when he discovered The Arcade Magic & Novelty Shop in Toronto, when he was 13 years of age. Harry Smith, the proprietor of the shop, was a close friend and confident to performers such as Dai Vernon, Ross Bertram, Dunninger, Le Paul, Kuda Bux and Sid Lorraine. Others who benefited from his wisdom at the Arcade Magic Shop were James Randi and Doug Henning.
Thomas is the author of two self-published works on Magic:
CREATING LEGENDARY MAGIC; and THE ACTION COP
He has lectured to Magicians in Canada, the U.S., Hong Kong and Cyprus.
An accomplished wood-worker and sailor, Thomas lives on the shores of Lake Ontario with his wife Wenda, in their home in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
