Hazel Crane was a South African socialite and businesswoman. On November 12th 2003, she was assasinated near her home in Johannesburg. Her death and the circumstances prompted immense media attention. She was also a personal friend of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

She was born in 1951 in Belfast, as a young woman she later migrated to Rhodesia, where she met her first husband. Tragically at the age of 25, he was killed whilst serving for the Rhodesian Army in the Rhodesian Bush War.
