Team Trinity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Team Trinity (チーム・トリニティ Chīmu Toriniti?) (also referred as Trinity Siblings or Gundam Throne Meisters) were a fictional group featured in the Japanese anime series Mobile Suit Gundam 00. They first appeared in episode 16. Consisting of three siblings, their surname refers to the Christian doctrine, stating that God is one Being Who exists, simultaneously and eternally, as a mutual indwelling of three persons.

[edit] Team Trinity
The origins of Team Trinity are unknown, though they were connected to Laguna Harvey, a traitor to Celestial Being and a leading figure in the transportation industry, from whom they took orders. They have their own mission objectives beyond the knowledge of the majority of other members of the organization (such as the crew of the Ptolemaios, making their existence one shrouded in mystery). They take an active role in military intervention, independent of the original Gundam Meisters' objectives and Veda (as noted by Tieria Erde, they did not previously exist in Veda's database).
Their Earth base is located in the mountains of Africa. They also possess their own Mothership. Their missions entail total annihilation of military bases leaving no survivors, not even civilians. All three siblings are implied to be designer babies, created for the sole purpose of becoming Gundam Meisters.
Their missions and actions had been called into question on numerous occasions by both the world and members of Celestial Being itself. Eventually, Team Trinity began to play a more antagonistic role, rising to its climax when Setsuna F Seiei, enraged by their complete disregard for human lives, engaged the Throne Meisters in combat. He was shortly joined by Tieria Erde and Lockon Stratos, who helped him partake in the battle of Gundam vs. Gundam. Tieria attempted to bring down the Throne Gundams using the armour-purged GN-004 Gundam Nadleeh's Trial System, yet was intercepted by Ribbons Almark's hacking of Veda. The siblings eventually retreated, but not before revealing Setsuna's true identity to his fellow Meisters.
As a result of the lack of TD blankets in the Thrones' GN Drive, the weapons used by their Gundams possess a side-effect apparently not present in the primary group's, producing a type of radiation that damages human stem cells, precluding the use of regenerative medicine, as shown by Louise Halevy's inability to regrow her amputated hand after Nena's attack on her cousin's wedding. These "counterfeit" GN Drives, also known as Tau drives, require charging as they do not have the capability of producing unlimited energy like the original GN drives.
Shortly after their defeat, Wang Liu Mei arrives at the Trinity Mothership with Hong Long in tow and offers her services to Team Trinity. Johann politely accepts her support, noting that assistance from another party within Celestial Being may eventually come in handy.
Later on, the Trinity siblings are confused by Laguna's lack of mission orders, oblivious to the fact that he had been murdered by Ali Al-Saachez. After UN forces discover their hidden African base, the trio are forced to flee into hiding, where Johann and Michael are found and killed. Nena is shown to be alive and working with Wang Liu Mei after the four-year timeskip at the end of Season One.

[edit] Johann Trinity
Johann Trinity (ヨハン・トリニティ Yohan Toriniti?)
- Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi
- Age: 26 (deceased)
- Year of birth: 2282
- Unit: GNW-001 Gundam Throne Eins
Oldest of the three siblings, Johann pilots the Gundam Throne Eins. Undertaking the mission to eradicate the world's strife, he began armed interventions alongside Michael and Nena. He is a calm person who faithfully handles his given mission while he commands his problematic brother and sister. His rational and cool-headed demeanour provides a subtle contrast to his fiery and stubborn younger siblings. An excellent marksman, he handles the firing of the GN Mega Launcher equipped on the Gundam Throne Eins.
Following Ali Al-Saachez's ambush in which Michael is shot dead, Johann is forced to fight in the Throne Eins against his brother's stolen Throne Zwei unit. After a brief battle in which he loses, Johann reflects upon how he had failed the purpose he and his siblings were 'created' for - being a Gundam Meister. He is finally killed as his Gundam explodes in a dramatic fashion.
[edit] Michael Trinity
Michael Trinity (ミハエル・トリニティ Mihaeru Toriniti?)
- Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa
- Age: 19 (deceased)
- Year of birth: 2289
- Unit: GNW-002 Gundam Throne Zwei
An impulsive young man, Michael immediately bares his fangs at people who oppose him, brandishing his trademark knife when feeling enraged or intimidated. Similar to his personality, he favors brutal tactics for mobile suit combat and specializes in attacks with the Gundam Throne Zwei's all-range weapon, the GN Fangs. Though he feels somewhat protective over his younger sister, Nena, he frequently complains about having to comply to orders from his brother, Johann.
After the Trinity siblings are forced into hiding due to the discovery of their hidden base, Ali Al-Saachez manages to track them down, shooting Michael on the spot and killing him with a single bullet to the chest. Ali then steals the Throne Zwei, whose security system had been deactivated by Veda, and uses it to destroy Johann Trinity's Throne Eins.
[edit] Nena Trinity
Nena Trinity (ネーナ・トリニティ Neena Toriniti?)
- Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya
- Age: 17, 21 (after timeskip)
- Year of birth: 2291
- Unit: GNW-003 Gundam Throne Drei
Simple, cheerful and straightforward in personality, she seems relatively self-centered and even spoiled; she also habitually smiles and makes a V-sign with her fingers. She is attracted to Setsuna's supposedly "wild" ways and kisses him once learning that he is the pilot of the GN-001 Gundam Exia, which prompts a disgruntled Setsuna to push her away in disgust. Her Throne Drei stores a large quantity of highly concentrated, condensed GN particles and that transfers particles to other compatible units (such as the Gundam Throne Eins) and employs a GN field that interferes extensively with communications. She's the strong support within Team Trinity. The possibility exists that she may be able to interface with Veda in a similar fashion to Tieria and Ribbons Almark, as she is shown inside the terminal aboard the Ptolemaios; however, this has not been confirmed (namely due to the fact that her eyes are never shown to glow like Tieria's).
Like Lockon Stratos and Fon Spaak, she owns her own Haro which is the same size as of the other Haros in the series. She may present herself as a typically cheerful girl, but she is just as "trigger happy" as her older siblings without regard for life. Out of boredom and frustration as she and her siblings fly over a wedding party during a mission, Nena fires two missiles directly at the party; the resulting explosions lead to the death of Louise Halevy's entire extended family (who were attending the event), as well as the amputation of Louise's left hand.
After witnessing Johann and Michael's deaths at the hands of Ali Al-Saachez, Nena is saved by Setsuna's timely intervention, and leaves in her Gundam while mourning the loss of her brothers. Being the only surviving member of Team Trinity, Nena is shown alive and well four years later. She appears to be working together with Wang Liu Mei on the Trinity Mothership, and is shown observing Ian Vashti and Liu Mei's remote conversation regarding the 0 Gundam's GN Drive.
Curiously, Nena is the only Yandere role to be played by Rie Kugimiya, who is popularly known for her Tsundere roles.
