"Te quiero puta!" is the ninth song on Rosenrot by Rammstein. It is Rammstein's first and currently only song in Spanish. It is also one of four songs in which Rammstein has used a trumpet, the other three being Klavier, Benzin, and Rosenrot. The female Spanish vocals are sung by Carmen Zapata.
The phrase "Te quiero puta!" translates literally from Spanish as "I want you, prostitute!", or "I want you, whore!". However, a more idiomatic and much more accurate translation would be "I like you, whore!". "Puta" is generally considered profanity, equivalent to the word "slut" in English slang.
Another translation of "Te quiero puta!" is "I want you to be a prostitute" since there's no comma present to express a destinatary.
The song, along with instruments and vocals includes the sounds of horse hooves, horse whinnies, and guns. In the first few moments it is reminiscent of a Mexican western.
According to Universal Music Portugal and Rammstein PT, "Te quiero puta!" was released in December 2005 in some countries as a limited promo-single, for promotional use at radio stations and clubs. This song is also very controversial, due to the content contained in the song.
The band has stated that they dedicated the song to the Mexican public, however, the song is more popular in places where Spanish is not spoken.[citation needed]
