Te-uru-ra'i Ari'i-mate Tamatoa-Tau-tu Tamatoa VI

Te-uru-ra'i Ari'i-mate Tamatoa-Tau-tu Tamatoa VI was born at Huahine in 1853. He was the Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a. He was the second son of Te-uru-ra'i Ari'i-mate Ari'i-rahi of Huahine. He was installed as Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a in 1884. His crowning took place on January 22, 1885. He was finally deposed when the French annexed his lands, the islands of Ra'iatea and Taha'a, on March 16, 1888.

He married twice:

  • Tetua-nui Ha'amarurai (daughter of Tamatoa Atiti-Oroi, of the Tati family of Papara) and
  • Moe (elder daughter of Te-He-papai Ma-hea-nu'u-a-Mai, of Faaa, Judge of the High Court, Pastor and Mbr. Supreme Council of Churches).
