[edit] Old Minuteman
Ran across your screen name on the LGM-30 page. Was in targeting & alignment '63-'66 at Minot and Warren. Yes, there actually are some old Minuteman II guys still around. <grin> Dick107 (talk) 20:46, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for adding the 147th and 149th Fighter Wing pages. Someday I may get around to adding some real content to them. So much to do so little time... --Colputt 22:03, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Military Barnstar
Looking at your long list of contributions I can't help but notice the massive amount of time you've devoted to USAF related sites. I'd like to recognize your contributions with the Military barnstar. Keep up the good work!. Ndunruh 16:52, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of F-100 units
TD, Thanks for starting up this aritcle! I think we will have fun adding to this endeavor, and am looking forward to seeing what we can collaborate on. Yesssssss!! I am a Hun fan, and last year I got to paint the nose and tail scheme of a Hun in 356thTFS colours. And just a few weeks ago, got to host the 20th TFW Assoc Reunion at the Wings Museum. Heard a lot of good stories.
I like your username, I assume it is for Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System. Sincere regards, Lance.... LanceBarber 08:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- TD, I think User:Ndunruh awarded the Barnstar to you (in checking history edits). He beat me to it. You're kicking butt. When I checked out the TDRSS article, it needs maybe a infobox and some tweeking... I started in on it, had some done, but lost my connection, and lost all my edits that I was ready to save!! Dang it. BUT, I did manage to get a lot of updates on the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite. I got side tracked on a few other articles, plus created a sandbox page on User:LanceBarber/ChromeDome, more is needed. Will be getting back on your Hun list in a day or so. Also like your to-do list. But, on this computer too much, wife is getting on my case.... geeee, I wonder why, LOL. Hope your having a good weekend! I am!!
[edit] Hey TDRSS
Great work on all the stub USAF articles. I've found some of the Air Expeditionary Wing articles really helpful for keeping things straight. However please do fill in the key data - like your most recent, for the 231 CCS - with name and location at the top, and maybe a link to the unit webpage if there is one at the bottom - rather than just 'located at [[ ]] [[ ]]', which is a bit too little (a la the 114 CCS). Otherwise it gets a bit frustrating. But in general, keep it up, and if you want to have a crack at some other air forces, go for it! Best regards Buckshot06 08:30, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Resurrection day cover.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Resurrection day cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:51, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image source problem with Image:386th Air Expeditionary Wing.png
Thanks for uploading Image:386th Air Expeditionary Wing.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:48, 3 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Siebrand 15:48, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:Jason Junior 3.png. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Jason junior 3.png. The copy called Image:Jason junior 3.png has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 02:59, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 1st Air and Space Test Squadron
A tag has been placed on 1st Air and Space Test Squadron, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TomStar81 (Talk) 10:31, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:119th Fighter Wing.png
A tag has been placed on Image:119th Fighter Wing.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] ANG Squadrons
Are you going to create those for wings and units that don't have squadron pages of should I do that when I get come back around and put historical information in each wing?Kevin Rutherford 21:26, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikiwings
Wikiwings are the official award of WikiProject Aircraft. Styled after military flight wings, they are awarded to anyone who makes extensive, high-quality, or generally valued contributions to the area of aviation on wikipedia. They can be awarded by anyone, to anyone, in a barnstar-like fashion.
The wikiwings award is modelled after Rlandmann's wikiwings award, and were officially adopted by WikiProject Aircraft on October 29, 2005.
You deserve this because without you, I would be doing nothing right now and what you have done is now the basis for the squadron pages I am creating. You have also created the wings category which I then used to style the squadron with.Kevin Rutherford 02:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Aerospace Defense Command
A tag has been placed on Template:Aerospace Defense Command requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] USAF AEF OPSEC Notice
- You Wrote: Your notice on the AEF wing pages is commendable, but I have to ask why it is there - I can understand the logic from a USAF perspective... but Wikipedia is not run by the USAF, nor the US Government. Should we use the same logic on military units and installations from other countries (i.e. Russia and Iran)? Some "other" (non-US Gov) resources (from UK and Netherlands) have compiled a list of "probable" AEW locations - why isn't that fair game to place on Wikipedia?
-
- Thank GOD Wikipedia isn't run by a government agency :)... and I see your point. The difference, of course being that the US armed forces are engaged in combat in various war zones, while most other nations are not. And yes I understand that there are unofficial lists of probable AEW locations.. The fact is that I can't even get my friends on active duty (I'm retired) to tell me where they have been or where they are headed to on AEW assignments. I just chose to put that blanket statement in there rather than guess. What do you recommend? Bwmoll3 (talk) 19:02, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Strategic Air Command
I agree with your suggestion and I've re-written the template. However, given the size and scope of SAC, it's going to be a very large template. Bwmoll3 (talk) 13:39, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CyberCom Wings: 688th and 689th
Hi Tdrss, do you know why these high numbers have been chosen for the new wings? What previous history do they have? Also, I'm developing the four-digit wing article in my userspace - it's accessable through Category:Four Digit Wings of the United States Air Force. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 10:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Tdrss. Understand from JDW this week that the new command will retain an interim HQ at Barksdale for a while - you don't know how I would find out how to contact the 8AF/CyberCom history office/public affairs office, so I could run that down? Some of the US military websites, like that one, are virtually unreachable from New Zealand. THanks Buckshot06 (talk) 22:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 2d Space Launch Squadron
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2d Space Launch Squadron, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of 2d Space Launch Squadron. // Chris (complaints)•(contribs) 18:28, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 194th Regional Support Wing
I need help. The above wing exists but there is almost no documentation to support this. Other than the state's national guard site, do you know of any other sites that might be of use? This was actually the one that you missed when you created the wing pages in the first place. Kevin Rutherford 01:13, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- I know of the site. The problem is is that I can't convert the file. Everything that was suggested to me is something that either doesn't work or I don't have. Thanks for doing so for me. Kevin Rutherford 21:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- I was just thinking...It might be easier to find out about the wing if one of us was to mail a letter to the headquarters requesting information on their history. Kevin Rutherford 21:12, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 340th Flying Training Group
The info on the page, stored by PatriotFiles.com, is from the Air Force Historical Research Agency. Patriotfiles.com does webcrawler searches, downloads pages, and stores them if the original disappears. Since the AFHRA has done a complete server overhaul, many files (such as this) have disappeared... BUT the information came from them originally. I do not believe this is a copyright violation, since AFHRA materials are in the public domain.TDRSS (talk) 12:52, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- The potential copyvio source does not list AFHRA sources and does not list a GFDL license, I have no choice but to consider it a copy vio and delete it. There is nothing prohibiting make an new article as a stub based on the info in the source http://www.patriotfiles.com/index.php?name=Sections&req=viewarticle&artid=1608&allpages=1&theme=Printer Signed Jeepday (talk) 12:48, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 13th Sqdn
TD, Noticed you moved the Sqdrn with United States in parenthesis. What was your reason? Thanks. Hope all is well with you. I've been busy on a handfull of articles and my regular restorations stuff at Wings Museum. Cheers, Lance... LanceBarber (talk) 15:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Tdrss, don't pay too much attention to what Mrg3105 or others say about mandatory suffixs. If the article title is unique - as most of the USAF ones are - you don't need to add the (United States) after it. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 00:27, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- TD, I agree with Buckshot...plus, with a ton of USAF wings and squadrons, etc. it would take dozen months of Sundays to change them all... not a pleasant thought, LOL. But I understand, being retired computer geek in govt I've been know to get overstandardized, too. And, God knows, wikiland is certainly standardized! LOL! Have a great day,bud. Lance...LanceBarber (talk) 05:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Tdrss with your new articles would you mind adding links in the appropriate higher command.. for combat comms squadrons for example, the Hawaii Air National Guard article? Right now they're a bit isolated. Or even, just add a well-referenced paragraph in those master articles, which would not lead to pages with sparse content being deleted.. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 02:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:159th Fighter Wing.png
