De Wet Bruwer (January 6, 1977) is a South African concert pianist and one of South Africa's best-known young musicians. He currently studies and works in London.

De Wet Bruwer was born in Cape Town in 1977, and grew up in the Winelands town of Stellenbosch, in the Western Cape. His sister is the well-known concert flautist and marathon open-water swimmer Carina Bruwer, who is also very active on the South African music scene.

De Wet began his musical training at the Conservatoire of the University of Stellenbosch (with Melanie Horne) and completed his Bachelor of Music Degree at the South African College of Music (University of Cape Town) in 1999, studying under Franklin Larey and Lamar Crowson. He was then awarded the BMus Honours degree 1st Class in the following year. In 2004 he achieved Highest Honours in the UNISA Performers Licenciate examinations and was invited to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where he currently works with eminent Russian pedagogue Tanya Sarkissova. He was awarded scholarships from the Ernest Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, The National Arts Council of South Africa, the Rand Merchant Bank Apollo Trust and the Royal Academy of Music.

A multi award-winning pianist, De Wet Bruwer has won numerous trophies, awards and scholarships. Performing extensively in and around Cape Town and South Africa, his imaginative playing has lead to recitals at major venues such as the Lindbergh Arts Foundation, the Baxter Theatre, the Herschel Young Masters Concert Series, as well as in Porto and Coimbra, Portugal . He has performed with all the major South African orchestras and received master classes from Frank Heneghan, Pascal Rogé, Caroline Oltmanns and Russian virtuoso Prof. Vladimir Viardo, at the Coimbra International Music Festival in Portugal .
Other career highlights include the premiere of South African composer Johan Cloete's Piano Sonata Frasch, as well as 1st prizes in the Adcock Ingram Music Competition, the Mabel Quick Competition and the Gladwell Music Competition. Performances in London have included various solo appearances at the Royal Academy of Music, as well as chamber music collaborations with clarinettist Evy van Dongen and pianist Ciara Moroney.
De Wet is also respected in South African music education circles and was employed for three years as piano specialist teacher & official accompanist at Reddam House School, Cape Town. In London, he is currently working as teacher at King's College London and the Royal Academy of Music.
