Editing Guidelines |
Please remember these guidelines when editing a film article:
- If a non-film article already exists with the name of the film that you are trying to create an article for, disambiguate and use (film) in the title: Film Title (film)
- When writing an article about a particular film, the general format should be a concise lead section, followed by a plot summary of no more than 900 words, production details, a cast list, a reception section, and references.
- Create an Infobox that tells all pertinent information about the film.

The tcmdb name template is based on the imdb name template. It requires an ID and a name, and includes a link to the main article on Turner Classic Movies. TCM maintains its own comprehensive database of motion pictures, actors, actresses, and film crew.
To use it:
- 1. Visit the TCM Movie Database.
- 2. In the keyword search field, type in the name of the person you want to link to, and click "Search."
- 3. TCM will show a disambiguation page showing all the names that match your search words. Click on the person's name you want.
- 4. Copy the ID number that appears after the phrase "participantId=" in the URL listing.
- 5. In the article you are editing, type {{tcmdb name|id=(the ID you copied)|name=(the name)}}.
