TCM & Cartoon Network

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TCM & Cartoon Network is a satellite channel that airs TCM from 21:00 CET to 6:00 CET (from 20:00 GMT to 5:00 GMT) and IST respectively and Cartoon Network the remaining time, mainly for analogue cable systems across Europe and India, although it was originally targeted at the Republic of Ireland, India and the United Kingdom. It was formerly free-to-air, but is now carried encrypted and provided only to cable companies and on some commercial satellite systems.

Its former name was TNT & Cartoon Network, due to the existence of Turner Network Television in Europe and India at that time. After the foundation of a European and Asian version of Turner Classic Movies, this was offered instead, with TNT becoming a UK-only entertainment channel within Europe, and eventually closing down.

On the introduction of a UK and India specific version of Cartoon Network, after the beginning of Sky Digital, TCM & Cartoon Network chose the pan-European and Indian version of Cartoon Network, which continues to operate with multiple sound tracks on many satellites.

Now TCM and Cartoon Network are two separate channels operating in Europe and the Indian Subcontinent. In India TCM is only available on Dish TV. The timeshare variation however is still currently running on the analogue service of NTL: but NTL: analogue is due to be switched off possibly next year.

In some countries (such as Bulgaria), the two separate channels are not available, and only TCM & Cartoon Network is offered to operators, even on digital services.
