Major Dewan Mohammad Tasawwar Raja, psc, AC was commissioned from Bangladesh Military Academy with 20th BMA Long Course on 23 June 1989. An Armoured Corps officer, Major Tasawwar served in Tank Regiments namely 7 Horse, 9 Bengal Lancers and 12 Lancers. He served in Armour School and School of Infantry and Tactics as tactics instructor. He also served as Staff Officer in Bangladesh Army Head Quarters. In 1995, Major Tasawwar participated in United Nations Iraq - Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) as staff officer and was awarded with United Nations Peace Medal.He again served as Military Advisor to Chief of Staff (MA to COS) in the Force Headquarters, United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) and received the prestigious UN Peace Medal.

Besides attending the compulsory courses, Major Tasawwar did technical course in China, advance course in United States of America, Army Staff Course in Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka and Command & Staff course in Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan. He also earned coveted Masters in Defense Studies from National University of Bangladesh and Masters of Science (Warfare) from Balochistan University, Pakistan.

A widely travelled officer, Major Tasawwar visited 1/5 th of the world including Bangladesh (home country), Belgium, Botswana, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iraq, Italy, Kenya, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Namibia, Netharland, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Uganda, UK, USA, Vatican State, Zambia, Zanzibar, Zimbabwe and so on. He has performed the holy hajj in 1996. The Major has also participated in a conference in Orlando, Florida as a member of Bangladesh Army delegation in year 2000.

[edit] Hobby & Creations

His leisure pursuit is to research on Bangla Folk Literature. Major Tasawwar Raja has compiled and edited a book of 850 pages titled “Hason Raja’s Oeuvre” in 2000 and publication of “Kabbo Bisharod Eklimur Raja’s Oeuvre” is in the process. He is also writing another book enumerating the experiences of visiting countries of the world, titled “World Tour, Mission: Impossible!” In 1996, his travelogue was published in UN magazine from UNIKOM Head Quarters, Iraq. In June 2006 on behalf of 'Educationist Dewan Talibur Raja Trust' he has established Museum of Rajas', a folk museum in the heart of Sylhet City, Bangladesh, where the artifacts of renowned Mystic Poet Dewan Hason Raja, Kabbo Bisharod Eklimur Raja and other mystic poets are displayed for the people.

Born on 15 October 1967 at Sylhet (great grandson of Mystic Poet Dewan Hason Raja); Major Tasawwar Raja got married to Mrs Mosleha Monira Raja in 1996. And they are blessed with two sons Musawwar Raja and Muassar Raja. And a daughter Fatema Tuz Zahra Raja (Late).
