Tassilo Thierbach

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tassilo Thierbach (born May 21st 1956 ) is a German figure skater.

With his skating partner Sabine Baess Tassilo Thierbach became World and European champion in 1982. The pair trained in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) and skated for the club SC Karl-Marx-Stadt; their coach was Irene Salzmann. They were the only East Germans to win the title of World Champion in pair figure skating.

Tassilo Thierbach teamed up with 5 skating partners altogether: Romy Kermer (silver medallist at the Olympic Games with Rolf Österreich in 1976); Antje Heck; Petra Ronge; Sylvia Walter; and finally Sabine Baess. In 1980 he suffered a meniscus injury to his knee, for which surgery was necessary. For this reason Bass and Thierbach had to miss the Nationals and the Europeans in 1981.

Tassilo Thierbach is self-employed today and runs the company Automaten Großaufstellung Tassilo Thierbach GmbH in Chemnitz.
