Tashi Namgyal (Kargil)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tashi Namgyal was one of the first to inform[1] the Indian Army of the presence of Pakistani soldiers on the Kargil hilltops in April 1999. The National Commission of the Scheduled Tribes has asked the Government of India to honour him with a nationally recognized award but has not gotten any response.

The army has recognized his service by various commendations including a cash prize, he still remains a face in the crowd.

His contribution is also mention in the 'The Kargil War - Preliminary Explorations' by Praveen Swami[2] on the South Asian Terrorism Portal (SATP)[3].
