My name is Tara Engel and I was born and raised in Washington. To learn more about me you can visit Tara's homepage. I also have a blog running about Backpacking in Australia.

I am currently a student at the University of Washington and I will be graduating in the end of July 2005. I am a Business Administration major with a focus in Marketing and I also have a minor in Spanish. The majority of my undergrad was spent at UW Seattle. I studied abroad in Costa Rica at Universidad Veritas in the Fall of 2003 and in Chile at Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso in the Fall of 2004. Upon returning I transferred to the UW Bothell campus and will recieve my degree from there.

I love to travel and am hoping for a career in international marketing, preferably to Latin America. Until this takes off I will live in Seattle. My family and the majority of my friends are here. During the winter I love to snowboard and during the summer I love camping, wakeboarding and hiking.

In Costa Rica and Australia I became a surfer and have yet to try it out here in the cold waters. I learned at Byron Bay Australia when I was there for three months in the spring of 2003 and continued to learn in Tamarindo, Costa Rica while I was studying abroad. I hope to return to Costa Rica soon and improve so I will someday surf the wicked waters of Santa Teresa and Witches Rock.

My goals are eventually to learn Portuguese and travel through the northern part of South America. Europe and Asia are my next destinations but will have to hold off until I obtain my career.
