Tarnaka is a major suburb in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Tarnaka means "wired checkpost" actually in local language "tar" means wire and "naka" means check post. It used to be grape garden at Nizams time and there is area called kimtee colony which means costly colony only because it was the best grape gardens of the area.
Tarnaka is well connected to main areas of city and it is a raising commercial area. It is well planned area more so because of the gardens its drainage system is meticulously planned. Compared to many other places in city Tarnaka is green and clean. It is very calm place even when there is huge number of apartments and colonies present in this place.
Life is more colorful in evenings and many small time vendors show up and people coming to shop at this places would show hyderabadi mentallity is best possible way.

The shopping area is quite good with big shopping malls and corner grocery stores alike.This place has shops which carters to all possible needs of people.

The closest MMTS Train station is at Sitaphalmandi.

There are many good schools like St.Anns High School and sandeepam vidyalaya high school.
Recently the new junior colleges coming up it became a busy center for learning. The area has OU campus which adds more variety to type of people and student culture to this area. Basically this area is more youthful and happening.
