Tarellians (Warhammer 40,000)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tarellians are a fictional race in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Not much information can be found on them, but they are mentioned in Warhammer 40,000 Codex: Tau (Chambers, Haines and McNeill, 2001). According to some sources they are referred to as Tarellian Dog-Soldiers, are dog-like in stature but can walk on their hind legs, and have scaly/reptilian skin. They are said to use primitive weapons or high-tech weapons given to them by the Tau in exchange for them acting as mercenaries for them, but only against the Imperium. During the Great Crusade the Imperium virus bombed the Tarellian homeworlds and drove the species to the brink of extinction. They survived by working as mercenaries and are always keen to exact revenge on the Imperium.
Tarellians use bore weaponry of the same strength as an Imperial lasgun, but which utilises an unknown ore that has baffled the Adeptus Mechanicus for some time. Understandably, they seek the secrets to this technology, in order to further increase their own firepower.
A small head picture of the Tarellian dog-soldiers is shown on page 116 of the 3rd edition Warhammer 40,000 rule book.
