Tarannon Falastur
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tarannon Falastur is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's universe of Middle-earth, the twelfth King of Gondor. He was born in TA.654 and succeeded his father Siriondil in T.A. 830. The expansion of Gondor started under his reign as he started the construction of Gondor's navies. He was therefore the first of the 'Ship-kings'.
His reign was troubled by the intrigues of his queen Berúthiel, who spied on everyone within the kingdom. When she went too far he sent her into exile. It seems they never were technically divorced, assuming divorce was even possible by the kingdom's laws; as a consequence he was apparently never married again, and died childless in T.A. 913. He was succeeded by his nephew Eärnil I.
