Tarangwa

A tarangwa (Thai ตารางวา) aka square waa is a unit of area, equal to 4 square metres (2 m × 2 m), used for measuring land or property area. Its current size is precisely derived from the metre, but is neither part of nor recognized by the modern metric system, the International System (SI). It is derived from a now very rarely used unit of length, the waa.
The square waa equals 1/100 ngaan or 1/400 rai.
It is commonly used in Thailand and equals 1/25 are, another unit based on the metre and as commonly used in several countries recognized though not encouraged by the SI.
As for many terms normally written in Thai alphabet, transliteration into English language caused a few spelling variants, e.g. data-raang waa, tarang wah ...
