[edit] Odd Resemblance

Tarzan, as pictured in this film, looks very much like Weird Al with his new look. Not notable, just interesting. --BlueNight 11:49, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

it says in trivia that this is the disney film with the highest death-toll (4 on-screen deaths). This can't be right. in Atlantis hundreds of seamen die when the submarine crashes.

OMG, BlueNight. I know, I was thinking the same thing, as I am a HUGE FAN of Weird Al. I actually checked this discussion page just to see if someone had said that! PS: I saw Tarzan on Broadway...IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!-StrongBad27 03:31, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Terk's Gender

I thought Terk was male, forgive me if I'm wrong.Rebeccarulz123 23:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC) It is an understandable mistake.I thought so too.But her voice actress is Rosie O'Donnel, so she must be female (though I know that isn't always the case). 152.31.229.30 18:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tarzan's troop doomed to extinction?

All right, I know this movie is fiction, with animal characters highly antropomorphized, so don't take this very seriously. This is just my brainstorming about what would happen to this gorilla troop, if their social behaviour was the same as that of real gorillas. I hope you will find it interesting.

Kerchak is the dominant male of the group. He is shown as the mate of Kala, but there's no other adult male gorilla shown in the troop, and even if there was another, only the dominant silverback male is allowed to reproduce, so we can assume he is the father of all the baby gorillas. There are young male gorillas, for example, Terk's pals, but gorilla troops are female resident, which means young male gorillas leave the troop when they reach maturity, to avoid inbreeding and rivalry with their own father. But Tarzan stays.

When Kerchak is dying, he asks Tarzan to replace him as the troop's leader. The female gorillas accept him as one, too. This brings up several problems: knowing that only the dominant male can reproduce, no more baby gorillas will be born, because the only female Tarzan is compatible with is Jane, and their children will certainly not be gorillas. There are only two solutions to save the troop: Tarzan is challenged and defeated by a male gorilla from another troop, who replaces him as the dominant male; or Tarzan allows the subordinate male gorillas that stay in the troop to mate with the females (though, if they are related to the females, the problem of inbreeding remains).

So maybe Kerchak was right that Tarzan would bring danger to the gorillas; but the danger is very different in nature than he thought.

Well, this is my wild idea. I know this is a talk page about the article, and not a forum about the movie; but I was bold to write it here because, maybe, a few parts could be added to the Trivia section to the article if it has one. - Don golgi 22:20, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] David Zippel

Did David Zippel reallyw rite the lyrics for Tarzan? No where in my research can I find any source to verify this. Collins expanded the score for Broadway. Zippel was never credited for any of the lyrics, both existing or written for the show.
